Industry award for local business
July 2010
CEDIA NEWS: Industry award for local business Local company Liquid Automation, who specialise in design and installation of residential and commercial electronic systems, has won an international award for the Asia Pacific region. The awards showcased some incredible installations which boasted integration on an unprecedented scale. They included stunning examples of home automation, home theatres many only dream of, amazing marine vessels fitted out with every perceivable piece of electronics, practical commercial applications and excellent audio visual product implementation. Based in Rosedale North Shore, Liquid Automation for the second year running won the ‘Best Marine Project’ and received a highly commended for ‘Best Project Design and Documentation’, both categories of the prestigious CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® Awards, announced and celebrated by over 300 industry guests at a gala dinner function at the Plaza Ballroom, Melbourne, on Wednesday 23 June. Liquid Automation’s Sam Ashton accepted the award and said: “It was an eight-month project with an impressive installation that included all the bells and whistles aboard this luxury vessel. We’re excited to have won, and also we received a highly-commended award for the project design and documentation for the same project.” “The submissions in this year’s prestigious awards were the best I’ve ever seen, both locally and internationally” said Executive Director of CEDIA Asia Pacific, Stephen Miller. “These awards are not given out lightly. This year we had a record number of entries (92) across the Asia Pacific region and each category was fiercely contested. The three judges on this year’s panel come from overseas and commented on the high standard of entries they were asked to adjudicate on.” “Liquid Automation was a worthy winner of the award and had to fend off a talented field to claim both first place and the highly commended award.” Miller said. “We congratulate them and wish them all future success and expect to see them on the podium again next year.” Liquid Automation encourages members of the community to call in at Unit 4 / 40 Arrenway Drive, for a chat and to find out what makes them number one in their field. Automated lighting controls are at the intersection of energy efficiency and green buildings. They cost more than conventional lighting, but can pay for themselves by managing the largest user of electricity in commercial buildings.
Thermostats manage energy use in HVAC, and lighting control systems perform a similar function using daylight sensors and occupancy inputs. By connecting window shades into the system, each room's daylight and artificial light are balanced and controlled. Our experience in commercial lighting design stretches from chic commercial boardrooms to whole commercial factories and Colleges. Commercial lighting, as with residential lighting, can transform a project, creating drama and illusion, highlighting and concealing and enabling flexibility to alter the appearance of a space at the touch of a button. Commercial lighting tends to utilise discreet effects, which welcome and guide users through a space.
Professional lighting design can benefit any space and has a larger number of considerations than residential lighting design. Restaurant lighting needs to adapt to a variety of scenarios from bright morning breakfasts to calming and romantic evening sittings. Bar lighting and pub lighting must also be adaptable to blend seamlessly in to the surroundings and help to convey the correct mood for all events or situations, whilst being hard wearing and preferably low maintenance.
Restaurant lighting and bar lighting must very importantly be controllable by staff and managers alike. Lighting control systems are ideal for commercial lighting schemes as the presets will be used frequently throughout the day and night and whilst being subtle, will need to respond immediately to the situation and be simple to use. Lighting control systems come in a variety of complexities, controlling the light in simple venues with only a few lighting scenes, or large and complex multi-use spaces incorporating audio-visual systems, air conditioning and illumination.
Buildings and workspaces are designed with windows because we intuitively understand that sunlight adds a comforting, refreshing quality to any room. However, achieving the greatest beauty and efficiency in each room means being able to control the light that surrounds you. With Liquid Automation’s Shading Solutions, you can quickly and easily control sunlight to prevent harsh U/V rays from damaging expensive furnishings or reduce glare that reflects off of a television or computer screen. At the simple touch of a button, you can automatically raise and lower shades to reduce heat gain in a space, thereby lowering cooling costs, or achieve instant privacy from the outside.
Liquid Automation’s Shading Solutions include: roller shades, drapery track systems, skylight shades, and beautiful fabrics to enhance the decor of any space.
